The smart home market is full of new and exciting tech, and there’s no sign of this changing any time soon. At CES 2019, there was a ton of new products everywhere. It was hard to narrow down the list, but here are some of the biggest smart home developments on the market today.
Video doorbells were a popular presence at CES 2019. French company Netatmo had a device with two invaluable features that caused it to stand out:
- It is the first video doorbell that can be integrated with Apple HomeKit
- It stores video using a microSD card so that you don’t need a subscription plan if you want to save and record video.
Another crowd pleaser was the Kasa doorbell, which has a 2K HDR camera instead of the 1080p that limits most doorbell cameras. It can use facial recognition to differentiate your family from invited and uninvited visitors, which adds an extra layer of security
Nanoleaf hexagon lights change colours, with up to 16.7 million colours to choose from. They have different operating modes that respond to touch or sound. While they might be too kaleidoscopic to put in your bedroom, they would look great in a gaming room or area. The hexagon lights work with HomeKit and are expected to be available by the end of the year.
The Secure Pro smart lock by Lockly has five different unlocking methods to choose from:
- The app
- Voice assistant command
- Fingerprint scanner
- Physical key
The most popular feature is the keypad, which conceals your passcode by having you press several numbers at the same time. Even if someone is standing next to you, it will be difficult to detect your password. The lock also works with Alexa and Google Assistant.
