It is now just a matter of days before CRL will be making its debut at the CIH Housing 2016 conference and exhibition.

The exhibition provides us with a fantastic opportunity to engage and connect with housing associations and developers at the biggest event in the social housing calendar.

There is no doubt that this year is going to be a huge year for housing and the conference will explore many of the biggest questions the industry is facing and identify the solutions that can help make a difference.

CRL will be bursting onto the scene at this year’s conference, organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing and attended by more than 8,000 delegates over three days.

Housing 2016 is the biggest opportunity to meet the whole value chain in social housing, with more than 300 exhibitors and some of the leading architects, advisors, funders and PRS businesses. CRL will be in good company as it joins housing professionals, contractors and developers who work with registered social landlords at the conferences and exhibitions.

CRL is going to make the most of exhibiting at the conference and look forward to meeting existing clients and making new connections.

In this guide we have put together everything you need to know about the conference and what CRL has in store.

Dates: Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th June

Venue: Manchester Central, Windmill St, Manchester, M2 3GX

Stand location: B3

Opening times:

28 June: 9:00-17:30
29 June: 9:00 – 17:30
30 June: 9:00 – 16:00

If you are attending the conference, come and meet the CRL’s team of experts who will be able to talk through how we can help source the relevant construction insurance for new build developments.

Our B3 stand in the main exhibition hall will be a hive of activity. Visitors have the chance to win a i-watch by taking part in an interactive buzzer game – so put your skills to the test and see if your steady hand will get you round the game. Everyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw.

Come and join us for a pie, pint or a glass of Prosecco on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th June from 3.30pm, where we’ll be hosting an informal get together for everyone we have met on those days.

Ideas Exchange

We are also sharing the platform with Capita Building Standards, a national provider of building control services, for a knowledge sharing session in the Ideas Exchange at 1pm on Thursday 30th June at Central 7. The session Reducing Latent Defects in New Homes will be presented by CRL’s Carl Nelson and Chris Jones, Director at Capita Building Standards.

The Ideas Exchange session will examine how housing associations can benefit from a combined Building Control and Warranty Inspection service.

At present the client has the choice of either selecting separate Building Control and Warranty Inspection or joint inspections.

Earlier this year Capita’s building standards agreed to share information with CRL through their client portal to provide a streamlined approach to building regulations and warranty services for their joint public and private sector clients.

The portal provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for building regulation and warranty services that revolutionises the building standards procedure. It provides all clients with access to building standards related services, offering complete transparency of the building regulations application and inspection process.  This enables clients to monitor progress of their applications from submission through to the completion of their project.

CRL and Capita will be hosting an ideas session that covers how building control and warranties can work together for the benefit of housing associations.

The conference also provides the opportunity to hear from the leading minds in housing including Brandon Lewis, Minister of State for Housing and Planning; Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council; Trudi Elliott, Chief Executive of RTPI; and David Orr, Chief Executive of National Housing Federation.

For the full programme of speakers see the conference highlights.

Come and visit CRL at stand B3 in the main exhibition hall. Here our team of specialists will be on hand to answer your construction insurance questions and support you through your house building process.
