CRL donates 60 sleeping bags to rough sleepers in Belfast

CRL, one of the UK’s leading 10-year structural defects insurance providers, has reached out to rough sleepers in Belfast with the donation of sleeping bags to the homeless.

The Belfast-based branch of CRL selected Fed and Warm Homeless Support – a charity that distributes food, clothing and sleeping bags to homeless people in the city – as its nominated charity.

The £500 donation was put to immediate good use by the charity and used to purchase 60 sleeping bags. These are now being distributed to the homeless in Belfast.

CRL’s President of Relationship Management Richard Livingston presented the sleeping bags to charity trustee Kevin Patterson recently at the charity’s May Street Church base.

Richard said: “We are delighted to back such a worthy charity that is doing some fantastic work in supporting the homeless in Belfast. I had met Kevin and the team while they were out collecting money for the charity on the streets of Belfast.

“I was aware that the charity was funded purely on donations and run by volunteers, and I was bowled over by the good work they do. As a result, I nominated Fed and Warm Homeless Support for one of our annual chosen charities that we support. And, CRL’s sleeping bags couldn’t have come at a better time as the charity was down to the last four sleeping bags in stock.”

Kevin added: “We can’t thank the CRL team enough for their generous support, as a general public fundraising charity we rely solely on the goodwill and generosity of local people to offer support to the city’s homeless. Many of the sleeping bags have already been handed out and have been welcomed by the homeless during the recent cold spell.”

Founded in 2014, Fed and Warm provides immediate support and assistance to the homeless in Belfast and aims to significantly and sustainably reduce homelessness in Northern Ireland.

The team of five volunteers provide a static food station every Wednesday outside the Salvation Army Shelter on the corner of Corporation Street and Waring Street. In addition, the charity provide outreach support a couple of nights a week.

CRL provides 10-year Structural Defects Insurance policies to the residential and most recently the commercial construction industry throughout the UK and Ireland.
